Another remarkable collection
The Henry VIII chess set
Henry VIII, reigning from 1509-1547, was one of Englands most interesting (understatement?) Tudor kings. This set also includes the figures of Sir Thomas Moore, Anne Bolyn (mother of Queen Elizabeth I) plus the pawns which depict the executioners. As we all know, Henry was the father of
Elizabeth and the monarch who broke with the Roman religion and the Pope, to set up the Church of England. But, it was this Henry, who became the first monarch to bear the title "King of Ireland" after the Irish Parliment declaration of 1541. And, it was Henry VIII who introduced the harp as the symbol of Ireland.

Tallest figure is 4 3/4 inches - $170.00 for the full Henry VIII set.
$90.00 for either as half set.
